Wallpaper Instructions

Important
Before handing check that rolls are undamaged, and colours match. Return any defective roll with the label to where it was purchased. Take extra care when papering around electric light switches and power points. Do not allow moisture to drip into electrical contacts.

Preparation
Prepare the wall by removing all traces of dirt, old wallpaper, or loose paint. Do not hang wallcovering on any wall with a history of dampness. Fill any cracks and allow to dry before hanging. Absorbent surfaces should be appropriately sized using a diluted wallpaper adhesive. Sealed walls i.e. painted should be rubbed with sandpaper to create a key. It is important that the walls are of an even and consistent colour. If they are not, then consideration should be given to painting them with an appropriate colour wash. Alternatively, we recommend that walls be lined horizontally using good-quality lining paper. Allow this to fully dry.

Hanging
Use a plumb line or spirit level to make a straight vertical line when the first length. We recommend the use of a light-ready mixed adhesive. Evenly apply the adhesive directly onto the wall using a brush or a short pile emulsion roller, gently smoothing out air bubbles working from the centre toward the edges. It is not necessary to pre-cut the lengths of papers as it will be applied directly from the roll. Apply the wallcovering to the wall and smooth it down with a good-quality hanging brush or plastic spatula.

Do not overlap, use but join.

Carefully wipe any excess paste from the face of the paper immediately with a clean damp sponge before it dries.
After hanging 2 or 3 lengths inspect the results to ensure that there I no shading or other fault.

No claims for hanging costs will be allowed for more than one roll. Please take extra care when installing dark-coloured wallpapers. You may want to consider colouring the edges of dark wallpaper with a decorator’s crayon to achieve a professional finish without visible seams. For the best result paint, the wall dark where the seams will meet and keep the seams tight. Please note that the wallpaper is printed in batches. There can sometimes be a slight variation in the colour across different batches so please be sure to order the correct.

Our wallpapers are suitable for most areas of the bathroom, except for where in direct contact with water or anywhere that is highly humid. You can coat your wallpaper with Decorator's Varnish to give it an extra layer of protection in wet or humid rooms, such as bathrooms or kitchens. We advise you to test Polyvine on a wallpaper sample to check you are happy with the finish before applying it to the wall.
